Despiteanotherchallengingyear,theGroup’sbusinessesincorporatefinance,assetmanagementandmoneylendingremainedprofitable,otherthanthenon-cashimpairmentofaccountinggoodwillarisingfromtheacquisitionofYuMingInvestmentManagementLimitedinJuly2019.Thestockbrokingbusiness,MortonSecuritiesLimited,waslossmakingamidstamyriadoffirmsclosingdown.StockbrokinghoweverremainsanimportantcapabilityintheGroup’scomprehensivefinancialservicesstrategy.SomemoderatecostcuttingwasundertakeninthestockbrokingbusinessandtheGroupiscommittedtocontinuetooffertheservice.
