ACEA Position Paper: European Commission proposal General Safety Regulation – October 2018
The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) supports the EU's goal of reducing road casualties and welcomes the Commission's initiative to revise safety regulations. Despite a three-fold increase in traffic, road safety in Europe has improved significantly in the last 30 years. ACEA's new position paper complements its previous one by setting out its views on the measures proposed by the Commission. Active safety measures have greater potential to reduce road casualties, and a detailed analysis of UK and French accident statistics has been carried out by the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) and Centre Européen d’Etudes de Sécurité et d’Analyse.
