NGMN Security Consideration of Low Layer Split in O-RAN
The NGMN Alliance, an industry organization of leading worldwide Telecom Operators, Vendors and Research Institutes, has released a liaison statement on the security considerations of low layer split in O-RAN. The statement was developed by the NGMN Security Competence Team and RAN Functional Split & X-Haul Project. The project aims to understand the RAN decomposition for 5G networks, including various RAN functional splits and transport requirements. The statement provides guidance on security considerations for low layer split in O-RAN, which is a key aspect of the RAN functional split. The statement is intended for the O-RAN Standards Development Focus Group and Security Task Group.
