The Atradius Payment Practices Barometer for September 2019 indicates that economic growth in Eastern Europe is expected to remain solid this year, driven by a resilient domestic demand and rising wages. However, global trade uncertainties are weakening trade prospects and affecting business confidence. To support domestic and export trade, suppliers in the region are offering customer credit more often than last year, with an average of 67.2% of total value of B2B sales made on credit, up from 38.8% a year ago. This increase is likely due to efforts to sustain domestic demand and enhance competitiveness on foreign markets. The use of B2B trade credit varies across countries in the region, with respondents in Slovakia being the most inclined to offer consumer credit to their B2B customers.
