This research report explores the role of accountants as providers of support and advice to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. The study was conducted by Dr. S. Susela Devi of the University of Malaya and Dr. R. Helen Samujh of the University of Waikato, New Zealand, and was sponsored by the Certified Accountants Educational Trust (London). The report found that accountants play a crucial role in providing financial advice and support to SMEs, and that their services are in high demand. The study also highlighted the importance of improving the quality and accessibility of accounting education and training in Malaysia to better support the needs of SMEs.
