The first quarter of 2021 saw a recovery in the global Free Zones economy, with a 30% increase in the share of Free Zones reporting a good current economic situation compared to the previous quarter. This is reflected in the F-WEB Economic Conditions Index, which increased from -27 to +14. The recovery is broad-based and reflected in investment, employment, profitability, and turnover. However, the situation regarding turnover has only improved relatively modestly. The outlook of the Free Zones has become significantly more optimistic, with a 33% increase in the share of Free Zones expecting a good economic situation in the next six months compared to the previous quarter.
