TheMRUcountriesareincreasinglyfacedwiththeneedtodeviseinclusiveandresilientgrowthtrajectoriesthattackleamultitudeofsocio-economicdevelopmentpriorities,includingeconomicdiversification,povertyalleviation,jobcreationandlocalindustrydevelopment,whileaddressingfiscalchallengesandrisingclimateimpacts. Accesstosufficient,reliableandaffordableenergyisfundamentalfortheregiontomeetitssocio-economicdevelopmentgoals.Thelackofenergyaccessconstrainseconomicactivity,impactsthedeliveryofcriticalpublicservicesandplacesstrainsongovernmentbudgetsduetofuelimports.AllMRUcountriesboastabundantrenewableenergyresources.Theseresourcescouldbeharnessedtotackletheenergydeficitandsupportbroaderdevelopmentandindustrialisationgoalsbystrengtheningdomesticagricultureandindustry,aswellasbydevelopinglocalvaluechainsforenergytransitionmineralsandtechnologies
