Albeitwithmanyuncertainties,wesoonmadeaforayintotheautomotiveopticsindustrythroughourextensiveexperience.Tobespecific,weobtainedtheIATF16949:2016certificationandprovidedautomotiveopticalsolutionstocarmakerssuchassomeinternationalmanufacturer,BYDAutoandSeres.In2023,BMW’siVisionDeestunstheworldwithAppotronicsdevices,usheringinaneweraoffour-windowfusiondisplays.Atthesametime,ourownbusinessalsoroseby36.87%year-on-year.Accordingtothe2022ChinaProjectorMarketReviewreleasedbyIDC,ourFormovieProjectorgaineda8%shareofthehomeprojectormarketasoneofthetopthreebrands.DespitetherecurringwavesofCOVID-19,morethan2,700newlaserlightsourceprojectorswereinstalledincinemasthroughoutChina.What’smore,ourmarketshareofprofessionaldisplaysremainedaheadandourmarketshareofengineeringlaserprojectorsrankedfirst.Besides,ourlaserprojectorsalesgotthefirstplacetoo. In2022,IactedasAppotronicsCEOagain.Consideringthedifficulties,notanysuccessmentionedabovewasmadeeasily.Firstofall,Iexpressmydeepestgratitudetomyteambecausetheymaintainedourstrategicfocusandbusinessresilience.Secondly,Iwouldliketoowetheseresultstoourappropriatestrategy.WithTechnologyFirstinmind,wemaycreateamazingpossibilitiesineveryscenario. Thoughtherevenueincreasedin2022,ourprofitswereaffected.Inoperationsmanagement,alotofproblemsarose.Forexample,thereisstillmuchroomforimprovementofourmanufacturingcapacity.Besides,oursupplychainisnotgoodenough...Atthesametime,wemustdealwithexternalchallengesincludingshrinkingdemand,supplyshocksandexpectationweakening. Thisyear,wewillcontinuetoincreaseourinvestmentinresearchanddevelopmentbecausetheinvestmentsin2021(9.47%)and2022(10.31%)havebroughtusanumberoftechnologicalinnovations.In2022,wedevelopedapocket-sizedopticalmodule,thefirstcommercialARmodulewithmorethan10,000PPI.Also,ourlatestALPD®5.0laserdisplaytechnologymadeitsdebut,achievingthemaximumcolorgamutvisibletothehumaneyewhiledemonstratingremarkablefeaturessuchasnospeckles,lowcost,highefficiencyandcompactsize. Inthefirstquarterofthisyear,ourR&Dinvestmentincreasedby15.49%year-on-year.Indeed,innovationisourlifelineandleadingcompetitiveedge. Also,wewillcontinuetoimproveourmanagementandvalues.Theinadequacyinourmanufacturingcapacitymustbeovercome.Andachangeinthesupplychainisrequired.Moreproceduresshouldbeestablishedandthewell-establishedproceduresshouldbeimproved.Besides,internalauditshouldbestricterthanpreviously. Lastbutnotleast,wewillcontinuetoexpandourinvestmentinautomotiveopticalsystems.Atthejust-concludedShanghaiAutoShow,wepresentedamodelcarwiththelatestimmersivelaserdisplayandlightsandlaunchedtheworld'sfirstautomotive-gradelaserheadlightsupportingRGBdisplay,aswellasimmersivein-cardigitalinteractivesolutionssuchasexteriorwindowdisplay,in-cartransparentdisplay,in-carentertainmentscreen,andsmartsurfacedisplay.Throughautomotivedisplays,HUDsandlaserheadlights,wealongwithourpartnersareexploringnewsmartcarexperienceforallconsumers. Withfast-growingAIwebplatformslikeChatGPTandadvancingsmartcockpits,Appotronicswillhelpbringimmersivedrivingsimulationtoanewlevel.
