We are a public accounting firm registered with the Public Company Accounting OversightBoard (United States) (PCAOB) and are required to be independent with respect to the Plan in accordance with the U.S. federalsecurities laws and the applicable rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the PCAOB. We conducted our audits in accordance with the standards of the PCAOB. Those standards require that we plan and perform the auditsto obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement, whether due to error or fraud.The Plan is not required to have, nor were we engaged to perform, an audit of its internal control over financial reporting. (a) Basis of Presentation The accompanying financial statements of the Plan have been prepared on the accrual basis of accounting and present the net assetsavailable for plan benefits and changes in those net assets. The preparation of financial statements in conformity with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles requires management tomake estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts of assets, liabilities, and changes therein and disclosure of contingent (b) Investments The Mohawk Industries Retirement Plan 1 Master Trust and Mohawk Industries Retirement Plan 2 Master Trust (Master Trust) wasestablished on January1, 2007.
